Next American Era Applauds Bipartisan Build America Caucus Agenda

NAE Commends Reps. Harder and Maloy for Reaching Across the Aisle, Urges Congress to Advance the Kind of Bipartisan Solutions that Help America Build

WASHINGTON, DC — Next American Era President Cheri Bustos today applauded the release of the Build More Agenda from the bipartisan Build America Caucus which is Co-Chaired by Reps. Josh Harder (D-CA) and Celeste Maloy (R-UT). The wide-ranging agenda, which spans more than 60 bills, takes on one of the root causes of rising costs in American life: we have made it too hard to build homes, energy projects, infrastructure, and the healthcare innovations this country needs.

“This is the kind of bipartisan leadership that Washington needs,” said Next American Era President Cheri Bustos. “Representatives Harder and Maloy reached across the aisle to put forward a serious set of ideas to make it easier to build in America and we need to see Congress working to advance proposals like these. American families are tired of waiting for housing and healthcare than they can afford, paying more to power their homes, and watching much-needed energy and infrastructure projects stall for years. Next American Era looks forward to working with our elected officials to advance policy that will lower costs, protect consumers and improve the lives of the American people and the Build More Agenda is a big step in the right direction.”

NAE recently commissioned a study through the Responsible Business Initiative, which detailed the cost of delay that results from our current energy permitting system. The independent report found that a broken, fragmented permitting system is driving up energy costs, holding back billions in economic activity, and leaving workers and communities waiting. This is happening while the infrastructure America urgently needs sits in queue for years. The report concludes that Congress must act on the federal level for the U.S. to receive the full benefits of permitting reform across all states, and the legislative window is narrowing before the end of the year.
