Next American Era Names Former Rep. Joe Crowley as Senior Advisor
Former House Democratic Caucus Chairman Brings Decades of Solutions-Oriented Leadership to NAE
WASHINGTON, DC — July 15, 2026 — Next American Era (NAE) today announced that former U.S. Representative Joe Crowley of New York will join the organization as a Senior Advisor, bringing nearly three decades of political experience and a record of pragmatic, pro-worker, pro-growth leadership to NAE’s growing national effort.
Crowley represented New York’s 14th congressional district, including his hometown of Woodside, Queens, in the U.S. Congress for nearly 20 years. He served in the House Democratic leadership for six years, first as Vice-Chair and then as Chairman of the Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position among House Democrats. He was also a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, where he worked to protect Social Security and Medicare, championed efforts to make healthcare more affordable, and advocated cutting taxes for middle-class Americans and small businesses. A Queens native who grew up in a working-class family, Crowley has spent his career fighting for the kind of practical, results-oriented governance at the heart of NAE’s mission.

Crowley’s addition comes as NAE continues to grow following its launch in February. NAE recently released new polling conducted by Morning Consult showing that voters across the political spectrum are rallying around pragmatic, solutions-focused governance and rejecting ideological extremes. The survey found that 60% of voters prefer targeted, practical solutions over sweeping ideological reform – a preference shared by Progressives (72%) and MAGA Republicans (71%) alike. Across nearly every issue tested, moderate policy approaches consistently outperform both Progressive and MAGA alternatives. The findings underscore a growing desire for an agenda focused on growth, problem solving, and expanding opportunity. Crowley’s extensive relationships with elected officials, business leaders, and community organizations across New York and the country will help NAE build the coalitions necessary to advance meaningful policy outcomes on issues including housing affordability, energy costs, permitting reform, and consumer protection.
